With some of the top-rated medical facilities in the country, and indeed the world, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital leads the way in patient care, research, and education. It is renowned for the outstanding care provided to each and every patient. This research often brings achievements in medicine that influence standards of care worldwide. To further insure the best in medicine in the years to come, this highly regarded teaching hospital is committed to training tomorrow's leading clinicians and researchers.

The merger of The New York Hospital and The Presbyterian Hospital made possible the development of three, state-of-the-art Centers of Excellence. They include a Gamma Knife Center for the treatment of brain tumors, a comprehensive Liver Transplant Center, and a Lung-Reduction Center for the treatment of severe emphysema and bronchitis. Additionally, the union makes NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital one of only three medical centers in the nation with both Adult and Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Centers.

The success of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital as a merged entity is evidenced by its ranking in the 1999-2006 U.S.News & World Report's Honor Roll of America's Best Hospitals. According to the survey, in 2006 NewYork-Presbyterian ranked 6th in the nation, the best of any New York area hospital. Within the top specialty areas, this year NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital was listed among the top ten in gynecology, heart and heart surgery, endocrinology (hormonal disorders), kidney disease, neurology and neurosurgery,  pediatrics, psychiatry, and urology.
