Weill Cornell Breast Center

The Weill Cornell Breast Center's team of experienced breast surgeons has pioneered many of the latest advances in breast cancer treatment today. Caring for patients in all stages of breast cancer, as well as those with benign breast conditions, we focus not only on treatment of the disease, but also on breast reconstruction approaches that preserve tissue and a woman's natural contour.

We are committed to continually pursuing new methods for more effective and less invasive treatment of breast diseases. While our first priority is treating a patient's cancer, we also believe it is vitally important to provide surgical treatments that restore the highest quality of life after surgery.

A gift to the Surgical Breast Center Fund is utilized to execute our mission. The following are some examples of how a gift may be used : Resident Education Program: The Surgical Breast Center has an outstanding program dedicated to training the next generation of surgeons. Funding is necessary for such things as supplies, technology and library resources to keep our program at a pinnacle of success.

Resident Education Program: The Surgical Breast Center has an outstanding program dedicated to training the next generation of surgeons. Funding is necessary for such things as supplies, technology and library resources to keep our program at a pinnacle of success.

Research: Surgeons and scientists within the Surgical Breast Center are consistently investigating new innovations to treat patients, particularly in areas such as biomedical engineering and outcomes research. However, seed money is required to begin many of the research projects that may develop into new devices and procedures that translate into better patient care.

Recruitment: New surgical talent is a consistent priority for the Surgical Breast Center. As with any profession, the addition of new and innovative talent requires a financial commitment.

Capital Improvements: The best surgical and medical professional talent deserve the best tools in which to learn, train and to care for patients. The Surgical Breast Center is committed to continuously improve its equipment and facilities to meet the needs of our patients.

Genetic Risk Assessment: Determining whether a BRCA mutation exists is important in selecting treatment for a woman who has breast cancer and the finding can also impact family members. Enhancing our technological capabilities and being able to conduct database research is important for advancing our Genetic Risk Assessment program.

These are just a few examples of how gifts to the Weill Cornell Surgical Breast Center at NewYork-Presbyterian are utilized for the ultimate goal of outstanding care for our deserving patients.
