Kelly Hicks, RN, BSN, CWOCN
- Kelly Hicks, RN, BSN, CWOCN is an Adult Nurse Practitioner Candidate and a Board Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence specialist in the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Kelly is responsible for the management of wound, ostomy and continence patient care in the outpatient setting and addresses the physical, emotional and social issues of patients with ostomies and acute & chronic wounds.
In her current position, Kelly has implemented a comprehensive outpatient ostomy care program. This program focuses on providing routine follow up care, improving quality of life, and increasing access to resources for ostomy patients. Before becoming a CWOCN, Kelly discovered her passion for ostomy and wound care while working as a Staff Nurse in the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery. She also has nursing experience in the areas of Cardiac Care, Critical Care and Transplant Surgery. In 2006, Kelly had the opportunity to collaborate with health care professionals from around the world while working at The Mediterranean Institute for Transplantation in Palermo, Italy.
Kelly graduated from the University of Pittsburgh's School of Nursing and is enrolled in the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at George Washington University. She was invited to participate in the Convatec U.S. Ostomy Advisory Panel for the 2010 - 2011 year. Kelly's professional affiliations include Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society.
