The Division's research interests include:

  • Tissue engineering of temporomandibular cartilage using dermal fibroblasts
  • Reconstruction of the TMJ with distraction osteogenesis and tissue-engineered cartilage
  • Osteoarthritis of the TMJ
  • Relationship between TMJ synovitis and adhesions: pathogenic mechanisms and clinical implications for surgical management
  • Relationship between arthroscopic surgery of the TMJ and non-surgical therapies in the management of patients with TMJ pathology
  • A 10-year follow-up of a TMJ prosthetic replacement system developed collaboratively by Division faculty and the Department of Biomechanics and Biomaterials at Hospital for Special Surgery
