Welcome to the part of the Weill Cornell Transplant Program website that is dedicated to the organ donor. We hope that people considering donating a kidney now and those considering donating their organs at the end of life will find this website informative.
Living Donor Kidney Donation
The Weill Cornell Transplant Program has one of the nation's largest experiences with living donor kidney transplantation. We have a dedicated team of specialists whose sole function is to care for the living donor and to ensure that the donor's best interests are protected. The transplant recipient team cares for your potential transplant recipient separately.
Kidney donors are managed by the same group of professionals from the moment they step forward as a potential donor through the follow-up that occurs years after donation—and every step in between.
Visit the Living Donor Kidney Center section of this Web site to learn more about several innovative programs within our living kidney donor program.
Organ Donation After Death
Unfortunately, there are many myths and misconceptions that circulate about organ donation. We urge all people to educate themselves about organ donation so that they can make an informed decision as to whether they would like to donate their organs and other tissues at the time of death. More organ donors are needed so that patients waiting for lifesaving and life-enhancing transplants can be helped.
