2010 Ben Park dinner
The 41th Annual Benjamin S. Park Jr., MD, Visting Professor Lectureship and Black-Tie Banquet Dinner were held on Monday, April 12, 2010. This year the Department of Surgery invited Alumni from the classes of 1980 and 1990 to share in the festivities held at the Regency Hotel in New York City. Nearly 100 faculty, residents and alumni joined together to commemorate Benjamin Park Jr., who was a resident of the surgical education program in 1968, and was killed in Korea serving his country in 1969. It was also an opportunity to celebrate the success of the surgical education program at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Alumni from the graduating classes of 1980 and 1990 were recognized and honored at the Banquet dinner. The guest speaker, who had given Surgical Grand Rounds earlier in the day, was E. Christopher Ellison, M.D., Robert M. Zollinger Professor & Chairman, Department of Surgery, Vice Dean of Clinical Affairs and Associate Vice President for Health Sciences, The Ohio State University Medical Center.
The Benjamin S. Park, Jr. Visiting Professor Lectureship is supported by the Department of Surgery. The Department of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College established this Visiting Professor Lectureship in 1969 as a reminder of the importance of surgical education.
