Research Highlights
Current clinical research efforts of the Division of Pediatric Surgery include:
- Intestinal dysmotility disorders in children with Russell-Silver syndrome – a disorder present at birth and diagnosed in early childhood that is characterized by low birth weight and short stature and, frequently, asymmetry of the body
- Neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis and the use of peritoneal drainage versus laparocopic surgery in very small, low-birth-weight babies under 1,000 grams
- Risk factors associated with the development of pan-necrosis in neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis
- Intra-abdominal fluid as a diagnostic indicator for intestinal and biliary injuries in children
- Surgical sequelae of congenital pancreatico-biliary anomalies
