Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and General Dentistry

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center offers three American Dental Association-accredited post-graduate programs: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery , a PGY-1 one-year General Practice Residency, and an optional PGY-2 General Practice Residency. All programs begin on July 1. The PGY-1 General Practice Residency and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency participate in PASS and the match. The PGY-2 General Practice Residency recruits post-match.

Six general practice residents receive clinical and didactic training in a one-year program. An optional PGY-2 general practice residency accepts one resident per year. The oral and maxillofacial surgery residency currently admits two residents per year; one to a six-year integrated MD program with Weill Cornell Medical College, and one to a four-year certificate program. Oral and maxillofacial surgery coverage is also provided to the New York Hospital Queens.

Applicants must be graduates of an American Dental Association or Canadian Dental Association approved school. House-staff typically live in neighborhood hospital-owned apartments and are required to obtain a New York State Dentistry License or Limited Permit prior July 1.
