Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and General Dentistry
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center offers three American Dental Association-accredited post-graduate programs: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery , a PGY-1 one-year General Practice Residency, and an optional PGY-2 General Practice Residency. All programs begin on July 1. The PGY-1 General Practice Residency and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency participate in PASS and the match. The PGY-2 General Practice Residency recruits post-match. Seven general practice residents receive clinical and didactic training in a one-year program. An optional PGY-2 general practice residency accepts one resident per year. The oral and maxillofacial surgery residency currently admits two residents per year to a six-year MD-integrated program with Weill Cornell Medical College. Oral and maxillofacial surgery coverage is also provided to the New York Hospital Queens.
Applicants must be graduates of an American Dental Association or Canadian Dental Association accredited school. House-staff typically live in neighborhood hospital-owned apartments and are registered with the New York State Department of Education by the Division on a yearly basis.
